ORIGINAL: Fortnite down news has been delivered by Epic Games with servers taken offline today ahead of the release of patch V4.4.
Fortnite servers are going down and offline at 9am BST (4am eastern time, 1am pacific time) on PS4, Xbox One and Mobile.
The official Fortnite Twtter account revealed the downtime news yesterday, and it looks like the upcoming patch could bring with it a new weapon.
The Fortnite team tweeted: “Patch v4.4 releases tomorrow, June 11. Downtime starts at 4am Eastern Time (0800 GMT).”
While the Fortnite tweet mentions GMT, the UK is currently on BST which is one hour ahead.
Fortnite fans logging into Battle Royale over the weekend will have seen one new addition being teased by Epic Games.
The in-game message in Fortnite said the new Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle will be “coming soon” to Fortnite.
The description for the new weapon said: “New high power Assault Rifle makes it easier to find enemies!”
The release of Fortnite V4.4 could also signal the end for the Teams of 20 v2 LTM, with the in-game message saying it is “ending soon”.
Fortnite downtime typically lasts between one a half to three hours if everything goes to plans.
So, fans will hopefully be back online in the UK by 11am.

It remains to be seen whether Fortnite V4.4 could see the release of the delayed Playground mode.
The new Fortnite mode was expected to drop with update V4.3, which was released last week, but instead the launch was put on hold by Epic Games.
Announcing the delay, Epic said: “[We’re] still actively working on it, there are some significant necessary back-end improvements we’re working towards.”
The new Playground mode for Fortnite essentially acts as a practice mode, letting players hone their building and battling skills.

Discussing the new mode previously, Epic said: “The Playground LTM will load you into the Battle Royale Map with some adjusted settings.
“Battle and build to your heart’s content with an extended period of time to roam around the map as well as increased resource generation.
“All treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned, try droppin’ in different spots and scope out the loot.
“Friendly fire is on so you can scrimmage with your squad (up to 4 friends per match), but fear not you’ll respawn immediately.”
